Thoughts Workshop Photos Tools Projects Don't Buy! Links

Hello, greetings from Sydney, Australia.   My name is Scott and welcome to my collection of thoughts and ideas
regarding the world's best past time - that of woodworking.   The thing about woodworking is that you can
spend 12 hours woodworking and have no idea how long you've been doing it.  My wife tells me that she can watch
me for ten minutes and I have no idea that she's there.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy what I have to offer.

My biggest challenge is that my workshop is tiny...I mean really small.    It is 18 X 20 feet total.  into this I have a table saw
(of sorts), my homemade table saw project, my lathe, my bandsaw, my router table, my compound mitre saw and of course
my workbench.  Coupled to this is cupboards to hold all of my hand power tools, racks for storing the many peripheral
bits that one accumulates.   If you go to the workshop tour you'll see what I mean.

I guess that it is a challenge to fit everything I want (but my wife won't let me buy!) into my humble workshop..
One of the big issues in a small workshop is dust suppression and extraction.  Several years ago I had bought a small
One horsepower 4 inch dust extractor which I used to use with a single piece of flexi-duct which I would hook up to each
bit of equipment as I used it.  This works fine until you get the shits with hooking and unhooking the duct all of the time.
What to do...I know...spend three months researching every article that you can find on the web about dust extraction.

What did I find....I'm glad you asked!  You'll find my position interesting  where my advice is, don't buy it...make it!

Check out my projects page for some handy plans and jigs and then check out my photo page which has
                            got something for everybody.

Delve into the workshop and see my thoughts on dust extraction and other ideas in setting up a small workshop.

Like any good woodworking page there is a links page for the my self sufficient-make-it-yourself woodworking style.
